2. Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar

A DICTIONARY OF INTERMEDIATE JAPANESE GRAMMAR The long-awaited follow-up to the bestselling Japanese language book, A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar. In order to advance beyond beginning-level Japanese, students must develop facility in handling a variety of language issues both in written and in spoken Japanese, e.g., knowledge of complex sentence structures for reading authentic texts, mastery of confunctions and transitional phrases for coherent sentence production, familiarity with nuances among related expressions for conveying ideas accurately, and other information. The entries in this volume address just such concerns. Arranged in dictionary form, with an abundance of example sentences. A Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar goes beyond the basics to provide students with information which is essential to the mastery of intermediate-level Japanese.

The followup to the Basic Grammar book series - a real MUST HAVE Book that explains everything.
A Dictionary of Advanced Japanese Grammar, the third volume in the widely-acclaimed, bestselling Japanese grammar dictionary series, is designed to introduce students of Japanese to advanced-level Japanese grammar expressions and help them deepen their understanding of the critical and subtle differences in meaning and usage between the target expressions and other synonymous expressions. Following the same format as the previously published volumes, A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar and A Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar, the book offers approximately 230 Japanese grammar items that are believed to be highly important for students striving to master advanced-level Japanese and also for instructors who teach Japanese at that level. This book is especially useful when reading advanced-level materials such as newspapers, professional journals, technical/business/legal documents, academic papers, and literature.

4. Kanji Mnemonics

Kanji Mnemonics is an instruction manual for learning Japanese characters. It
incorporates powerful mnemonic (memory-assisting) devices to help students learn all
1,945 kanji in everyday use in Japan. The manual assumes only a basic knowledge of
Japanese grammar and the kana and is suitable for self-study or use in a classroom
setting.
Kanji Mnemonics employs many interactive strategies to facilitate learning kanji. The
manual is cumulative in its approach: simple kanji, radicals and elements are learned
first and form the basis for the more complex characters that come later. Kanji are
organized into natural groups based on mnemonically effective affinities. Structural
elements that form each complex kanji are listed and cross-indexed. Finally, kanji are
assigned 'mnemonic strings' to make their meanings highly memorable for beginners
and advanced students alike.
Although Kanji Mnemonics takes a modern, pragmatic approach to learning kanji, it also
encourages a sympathetic appreciation of the etymology of these enduring characters
and their great antiquity. A brief account of the kanji as pictographs or ideographs and
their historic evolution are therefore given in Section I.
Section II presents 98 basic kanji, many of which are derived from simple pictures and
symbols. In Section Ill, kanji are presented in groups that have a common structure and
the same ON reading (Sound Groups). Section IV contains groups of kanji that have
common structures but whose ON readings are not all the same (Mixed Sound and
Structure Groups). Section V contains groups of kanji that have common structures but
different ON readings (Structure Groups).
Within each of the Sound, Mixed and Structure groups, kanji are presented in graded
levels of difficulty, which is usually (but not always) a function of the number of strokes
required to write them. Although the assignment of kanji to levels of difficulty tends to be
somewhat arbitrary, there seems little doubt that a Level 1 kanji such as ~ is a lot
easier to learn than a Level 3 kanji such as ~f1. As the simple kanji are mastered, it
becomes easier and easier to cope with the difficult ones.

5. Japanese for Everyone (Gakken) Ebook + Audio

This has been one of my favorite textbooks. It is very comprehensive. The material can carry a very beginner to intermediate stage. I don't say that for most textbooks, but this book has a lot of meat. One of my favorite aspects about this book is it has a running vocabulary at the bottom of many pages so if you are stumped by a new word, the definition will be either on that page or a page or two before.
While lots of languageschools are using Minna no Nihongo and other books - there is are good reason, you need a teacher to understand Minna no & others fully. Japanese for Everyone is maybe the best selfstudy - book out there, it explains everything without needing extra Grammaticalnotes.

This textbook is a new, unique course designed for classroom use as well as self-study. Its objective is to lead beginning students up to a point where they are able to communicate effectively in practical, everyday encounters. The course presents dialogues and expressions in Japanese, together with useful cultural information, enabling students to use the language as a native speaker would in a variety of real-life situations.

29. Japanese Beyond Words (Ebook)

Learning Japanese is a challenge. And, as many students find out, memorizing sentence patterns, vocabulary, and lists of kanji doesn''t necessarily make it easy to communicate with Japanese people. Barriers of culture and social etiquette can be just as difficult to overcome as problems of grammar. And until now, these aspects of learning to communicate with a new culture could only be learned first hand by trial and error. "Japanese Beyond Words" was written to fill this gap.

33. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (The girl who leapt through Time)

For those who like to practice reading japanese, take a look at this famous novel ( there is also a movie and mangaversion, also known als The girl who leapt through time )
Makoto Konno a girl attending high school in Tokyo realises she has the power to go back in time and re-do things (called a "time-leap" when she impossibly avoids a fatal accident at a train crossing one day.

Bewildered, she consults with her aunt At first, Makoto uses her power extravagantly to avoid being tardy and to get perfect grades on tests, and even relive a single karaoke session for about ten hours. However, things begin to turn bad as she discovers how her actions can adversely affect others. Makoto ends up using up more of her leaps to recklessly prevent undesirable situations from happening, including an awkward confession of love from her best friend Chiaki Mamiya . Eventually she discovers a numbered tattoo on her arm which counts down with each leap. She determines that the tattoo indicates that she can only leap through time a limited number of times. With only a few time leaps left, she attempts to make things right for everyone, but impulsively uses her final leap to prevent a phone call from Chiaki asking if she knows about time-leaping. As a result, she is unable to prevent her friend Kōsuke Tsuda and his girlfriend from being killed in the accident at the train crossing that Makoto was originally involved in. Devastated, time suddenly stops.

te recomiendo empezar por el numero 1 de la lista que consta de 644 paginas con las que una vez leídas vas a pasar a tener una MUY buena base, igual anda mezclando, buscando respuestas y curiosidades de los otros libros que todos aportan algo, tambien usa los buscadores y tambien hay muchas paginas que se dedican unicamente al estudio del japones, no vas a estar solo , desps segui con el 2 y el 3.
