Cedega (anteriormente conocido como WineX) es un fork libre (pero de pago) de Wine (de cuando la licencia de éste último no era LGPL sino licencia BSD) desarrollado por TransGaming Technologies. El programa Cedega está específicamente diseñado para ejecutar juegos de ordenador escritos para Microsoft Windows bajo GNU/Linux. Como tal, su principal objetivo es implementar la API de DirectX.
La comunidad ha conseguido que Wine mantenga contacto con desarrollos en Cedega; bastantes juegos y aplicaciones 3D funcionan tan bien o mejor que al ejecutarlas nativamente bajo Microsoft Windows

Instalacion
1-La instalación no es muy compleja. En primer lugar nos vamos al archivo cedega-small_6.0_all.deb y al pinchar sobre él nos abre el gestor de paquetes gdbi:
2-Después de la instalación, abrimos el programa que se encuentra en aplicaciones, juego y transgaming cedega, apareciendonos el configurador:
3-Le damos a Foward y es el momento de actualizarlo. Desmarcamos “check for updates” y le damos a install local package donde buscamos el archivo cedega-engine-6.0-local-update.i386.cpkg que nos hemos descargado:
4-El programa analiza que equipo tenemos y nos realiza un test completo sobre la aceleración gráfica, opengl, y test de sonido oss y alsa. Si usais beryl como yo, posiblemente falle el test de opengl direct rendering. No os preocupéis,para poder ejecutar cedega sin problemas podemos poner en la consola:
DISPLAY=:0 cedega
O directamente cerrar la sesión y entrar en gnome sin Xgl.
5-Para poner el programa en español, le damos a preferencias de lenguaje, le damos a instalar, elegimos el español, cerramos y la proxima vez que entremos vemos el cambio:

Todo esto porque la gente de Transgaming no es capaz de compilar una version en 64 bits (ni de sacar la versión 7 para Linux, cuando ya anda circulando la 7 para Mac). En fin, siempre los linuxeros para el último :S
