Respuesta Británica al Spot de Presidencia de la nacion.




We were very disappointed this morning to see the advert from the Argentine Presidential Office, attempting to politicise the Olympics in service of their territorial ambitions. This video was filmed without the knowledge of the Falkland Islands authorities.

It is deeply sad to see Mr Zylberberg clambering over a war memorial, especially in this anniversary year. Sadly, this illustrates the disrespect the Argentine authorities have for our home and our people. Unsurprisingly, at no stage does the video feature any Falkland Islanders – a clear reflection of Argentina’s policy, which is to pretend that the people of the Falkland Islands do not exist. It is time the world took note – we do exist, and as with all people we have rights, which the Argentine Government is trying to deny us. We are our own people, who through nine generations have lived and worked in these islands for nearly 200 years.

We determine our own future, and we will not be bullied by the Argentine Government, neither by their attempts to undermine our economy, nor by their constant misrepresentation of the truth, nor by pieces of cheap and disrespectful propaganda such as this. It is hugely disappointing to see sport abused in this way, when it is so often seen as a vehicle for unity. It seems an act of desperation to sink to this.

Con mucha decepción hemos visto esta mañana el anuncio de la Oficina de la Presidencia Argentina, intentando politizar los Juegos Olímpicos al servicio de sus ambiciones territoriales. Este video fue filmado sin el conocimiento de las autoridades de las Islas Malvinas.

Es muy triste ver al señor Zylberberg trepando sobre un monumento de guerra, especialmente en este año de aniversario.
Lamentablemente, esto pone de manifiesto la falta de respeto de las autoridades argentinas hacia nuestro país y nuestro pueblo.
Como era de esperar, en ninguna parte del video participan los habitantes de las islas - un claro reflejo de la política de la Argentina, que es pretender que la gente de las Islas Malvinas no existen. Ha llegado el momento de que el mundo tome nota - que sí existen, y como todas las personas tenemos derechos, que el Gobierno argentino está tratando de negar. Somos nuestra propia gente, que a través de nueve generaciones han vivido y trabajado en estas islas durante casi 200 años.

Nosotros determinamos nuestro propio futuro, y no vamos a ser intimidados por el Gobierno argentino, ni por sus intentos de socavar nuestra economía, ni por su tergiversación constante de la verdad, ni por las piezas de propaganda barata y faltas de respeto como éste. Es muy decepcionante para ver el deporte maltratado de esta manera, cuando se lo considera a menudo como un vehículo para la unidad. Parece un acto de desesperación para hundir a este.
