SKIP JAMES - The Complete 1931 Recordings




La historia de Skip James es notable, increible:
En 1931 ganó un concurso en una tienda local de discos, lo que le significa una grabación en Paramount, en aquella única sesión grabó las 18 canciones que estan en este disco, pero desafortunadamente para el, la crisis de esos años alcanzo a la discografica que al poco tiempo quebro, Skip se alejo del blues y se dedico a ser pastor en su iglesia siguiendo los pasos de su padre, luego de 30 años y con el resurgimiento en inglaterra del blues a cargo de musicos como Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, en los 60's y coincidiendo con el 1° festival de Newport, Skip James aparece en un hospital y es llevado casi a cuestas hasta el escenario del festival donde deslumbra a todos interpretando sus temas del 31 como "devil got my woman". Luego de esto el grupo inglés Cream graba el tema "I´m so Glad" lo que le significa a james tener regalias por su musica por primera vez y que le sirve para financiar una operación que le daría tres años más de vida. luego de newport pudo hacer otras grabaciones hasta que fallecio victima del cancer que padecia. Su forma de tocar la guitarra y el piano también, tan particular y su especial voz son ahora un clásico de clásicos...
