Cray ha anunciado la supercomputadora de escritorio CX1. El equipo de Cray junto con Microsoft e Intel contruyeron una nueva máquina que soporta hasta 8 nodos, un total de 64 cores y 64 GB de memoria por nodo. La CX1 puede ordenarse por internet con un precio inicial de U$S 25.000- , y se puede elegir como sistema tanto Windows como Linux. Puede llegar a ser un buen negocio para científicos y universidades que trabajan con grandes centros de cómputos, como así también para trabajos de modelado de 3D y VFX.
